Master Alloys for Titanium Alloys

Master alloys for titanium alloys are critical additives used to address challenges arising during melting due to significant differences in melting points and densities among alloying elements, including composition segregation, alloying-element loss, and the formation of high-density or high-melting-point inclusions. By pre-alloying high-melting-point or volatile elements—such as vanadium, molybdenum, and chromium—with low-melting-point metals such as aluminum and titanium into homogeneous alloys, these master alloys enable precise composition control, improve melting efficiency, and enhance the microstructural uniformity and performance of the final materials.
